Team Strength Co-ordinator - REDBLACKS

Location: Ottawa, ON

The Ottawa REDBLACKs is looking for a Team Strength Co-ordinator for the 2017 Season.

 The role of Team Strength Co-ordinator requires a strong, organized leader who is responsible for delivery of team conditioning and the development of athlete performance working with a professional football team in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Candidates must be professionally ethical, dedicated, innovative and strong communicators providing inspiring standards as team contributors to support athlete performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, deliver, prioritize, physically demonstrate and monitor annual, periodized, individual performance plans and recovery programs for football athletes as required based upon proven, scientific and evidence based methodology
  • Work in collaboration with the Medical Department to ensure effective delivery of safe and progressive return to play techniques for injured athletes and injury prevention programs
  • Develop and deliver team warm-up programs as required
  • Administer specific testing, analytics and evaluation protocols to identify athlete biometrics, muscle imbalances and movement patterns to design corrective conditioning programming
  • Daily documenting, tracking, reporting and communication to Head Athletic Therapist, coaches and players using industry software platforms, systems and technology
  • Assist with team hydration and nutritional program needs as required
  • Support team member league anti-doping programs and related company policies
  • Maintain a safe training and conditioning environment
  • Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as governed and outlined by both the Canadian Football League and your respective CFL team
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Completed undergraduate or graduate degree in related sports science field
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS) preferred
  • Valid CPR, AED and First Aid certification
  • Football background with university or professional team experience preferred
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent administrative, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to remain flexible with employment workload, demand and hours

Seasonal Contract: May 15th - December 15th 2017

Brand & Product Marketing Manager (1 Year Term)

Location: Ottawa, ON

Reporting to the Vice President, Ticket Sales and Marketing, this position is responsible for driving interest and consumer demand for all brands (REDBLACKS, 67’s, Fury FC, TD Place, Lansdowne Live) and products that ultimately support revenue objectives.  This position will bridge the link between the products and rest of the marketing team.  They will have a big picture mentality with a holistic view of the industry and future market developments.  This candidate needs to own the go to market strategy and enable successful product launches by working across teams including our growth hackers, sales, ticket operations, communications, partnerships and events.  

Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Act as brand champion and work with a dynamic cross function team to drive engagement, interest and demand. 
  • Ensure that story and strategy remain aligned by ensuring content meshes well with products we are selling, including but not limited to tickets and merchandise.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key media partners, including Agency of Record.
  • Build campaigns and collateral that drive awareness and demand for all OSEG brands.
  • Oversee media planning for all brands in multiple communication channels.
  • Act as innovator and be part of idea process for new strategies, tactics and technology that better engage all fans for all brands. 
  • Provide evaluation of projects/campaigns so key learnings can be applied to future tasks.
  • Identify and help sell-through incremental campaign opportunities to the various properties that help them achieve the most efficient returns and results. 
  • Ability to navigate a portfolio of brands within OSEG, gain an understanding of their unique brand elements and build/strengthen relationships with essential stakeholders.
  • Assigns priority sequence, communicates needs to colleagues within the marketing department and ensures requests are completed on time/budget.
  • Assist in communicating new initiatives to the organization to promote awareness and ensure buy-in.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND Experience:

  • Post-Secondary degree; strong preference for business focus
  • 4-6 years marketing experience in sports/entertainment industry
  • Management experience is required
  • Advanced written and presentation communication skills
  • Proven understanding and expertise in brand strategy as well as the social/digital space and how it integrates with wider marketing mix

Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Ottawa, ON

We are looking for someone to fill an 8-month contract as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Grey Cup Festival. You will be responsible for coordinating the Volunteer Program by managing the overall recruitment and scheduling for the various festivities.

What you’ll do:   

  • Develop and implement the festival’s policies and procedures regarding the Volunteer Program and Application Processes (i.e. Screening, discipline, and retention policies)
  • Identify the number of volunteers required and draft job descriptions
  • Design and implement volunteer orientation and training sessions as required 
  • Oversee the production of the Volunteers Handbook
  • Co-ordinate the ordering, receiving, assembly and distribution for all the clothing and volunteer uniform
  • Schedule approved volunteers, the set-up and operations of all volunteer lounges at event venues, including a volunteer headquarters
  • Develop and implement the volunteer food and beverage services
  • Design and implement a recognition program
  • Provides ad hoc reports, as determined
  • Daily duties during the festival may include but are not limited to; volunteer check in, volunteer briefings, assisting functions with deployment, equipment distribution, activating contingency planning if any attrition, monitoring volunteer incident reporting tool and updating schedules
  • Support the planning and execution of the festival as directed by the Director, Grey Cup Festival

What you need to have:

  • Diploma or degree in sport management, administration, or other related field. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and experience may be accepted
  • Three to five years proven experience in relevant field
  • Ability to motivate and engage a large volunteer team
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required
  • Computer skills including proficiency/experience with database systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable, works well under pressure
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities with limited supervision
  • Bilingualism is a requirement

Venue Business Reporting Manager

We are looking for someone who loves numbers, is organized and able to work with department managers to search for better ways to do things because the position will help shape future direction of the Venues & Entertainment Department.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with department managers by providing analysis of events in the venue & entertainment department including; policy, procedures, timelines, reporting, budget and settlement.
  • Coordinate and prepare department operating and capital budgets including: monitoring and analysis of monthly trends of event and venue expenses.
