What’s New at TD Place
Our Ottawa REDBLACKS and Ottawa Fury FC have been off to a fantastic start. The REDBLACKS are 2-0 heading into week four, where the Fury are currently undefeated in their last nine matches. With an impressive performance by the teams – we wanted to inform you of the new and exciting activities happening at TD Place and how our partners’ involvement have helped their brand perform.
RNation Block Party
This brand new event takes place in the Aberdeen Square before each REDBLACKS home game that welcomes all ages. It is the official pre-game party that starts two hours before kickoff on weekday games, and two and half hours before kickoff on weekend games.
For the home opener that took place June 20th, we had multiple partners activate at the RNation Block Party. Located directly in front of the Aberdeen Pavilion was TD’s Foam Finger – this activation recently was certified as the world’s largest foam finger measuring a staggering 25 feet tall and 12 feet wide which was a hit on social media.
Located inside the licensed area was Twisted Tea which had an array of lawn games including Jenga and corn hole. Their ‘Unwind with a Twist’ flag waving outside their activation space enticed fans to enjoy a Twisted Tea at the mobile bar along with branded giveaway items. Budweiser had an activation site where they gave away REDBLACKS and Budweiser branded swag for fans who participated in the backyard games. Outside the licensed area Kubota brought in their interactive semi-truck that showcased augmented reality features and Tim Hortons brought their van on site where they handed out free hot drinks to all fans.
The RNation Block Party allowed for partners to provide entertainment to fans before entering the stadium which increased brand engagement and awareness. With eight home games left, be sure to check one out!
The Patio Party is a new match day experience we have incorporated into our four evening Ottawa Fury FC home games. This involves an entire transformation of the section on the pitch behind our home goal, into a backyard party for fans to enjoy BBQ food, cold drinks, and games!
The first one took place on June 15th with great success – the sun came out and the Fury put on an exciting show all under the lights. Brew Donkey Tours partnered with the Patio Party where they provided an exclusive brewery tour and tasting of either Big Rig or Mill Street three hours before match start. They picked you up on a Brew Donkey branded bus and over the course of the tour you received an education session on how the beer is made, fresh pretzels, and dropped off at the Patio Party zone before the start of the match – all this for only $55! Inside the Patio Party, we had many activations on site. This included, Labatt Backyard Games that featured a large Connect 4 game which was a hit! Yellow Tail activated on site – providing samples to guests of the Patio Party. Partners were able to connect with fans through various avenues at the Patio Party which provided them an increase in fan engagement during the Fury match itself. The next three will take place on July 20th, August 2nd, and August 30th.
